Meravigliosa e splendida Lecce… Cisternino una grande sorpresa. Mozzafiato i paesaggi del Salento.
Attrezzata ed accogliente la dimora: deliziosa struttura.

We had a truely great time in Oria. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. There are plenty of good restaurants and cafes to spend an evening but the people of Oria are so friendly that that is the single, most important memory. We’ll take home with us. We had every intention of returning, which speaks volumes.

P.S. the standard of accommodation perfectly suited our needs.

Another great holiday despite the occasional and spectacular cloudburst when the steps became a beautiful waterfall!! Everyone in the town is helpful + friendly and despite many previous visits there is always something new to experience. Non vediamo l’ora di rivedervi.

We arrived on a Sunday evening and as soon as we stepped into our new home we knew we did not make a mistake booking here. Oria has been perfect in every way possible. It been boiling hot even for us (we are from Australia!).
We have really enjoyed our 5 days in Oria. Everyone is warm & friendly. It has been a great base to explore south Puglia. The kids loved the beach Torre S. Isidoro. We loved Oria for not being too touristy.

We have had a wonderful 3 days start to our holiday. We love Oria and especially living within the community and sharing all that it has to offer. It beats a tourist resort every time.
We liked seeing the mozzarella being made and enjoyed our meal at “Corona del Re”. We also liked the fact that we only saw a few other tourist.
We had a good afternoon in Lecce, which was also virtually tourist free. It was a bit like a mini Siena. We travelled by train which was a good way to go. A visit to Campomarino beach was also enjoyable. Again, almost no one around.
The weather’s been perfect throughout… how did you manage that? It does help.
Thank you very much
Mille grazie. Ciao

A friend from the north of England recommended Borgo di Oria but he didn't mention how utterly beautiful and historic the apartments are. We were really knocked out by our medieval suite/apt., it was gorgeous. Francesco was supercool and hooked us up with a fab tour guide for an impromptu tour of the MUMMIES nearby. I can still smell them! We both want to go back and soak up the atmosphere this summer (not August, thanks!) and the beaches which we are told aren't jam-packed like other Italian beaches in summer. Sounds good to me. I need to add that ALL the bathrooms in places we stopped on our long car ride from Tuscany down to Puglia were SPARKLING CLEAN, NOT like the bathrooms where we live which are horrid and I am talking WOMEN'S BATHROOMS, okay. Big bonus is the lovely selection of English language books, I SWEAR I will return the one that I "checked out" :)
I recently purchased a small country house in an olive grove very close to Oria. I discovered it by accident while exploring the area and immediately fell in love with it's charm and typical "salentino" architecture. The fact that it is built on one of the rare hills in the area gives it a vantage point and atmosphere that few other local towns enjoy.
I decided to go down in the New Year to start the renovation of the house and was forced to look for a hotel. Oria immediately came to mind. I imagined that I would be staying in a typical 3 star hotel with no personality but soon pleasantly discovered that the hotel consists of several small separate apartments, all located in the historic center of town. The apartment was very clean and well-equipped and the staff extremely accomodating.
If you are looking for a hotel that is more home away from home and locals that make you feel like part of the family, Borgodioria Resort is the place for you.

CAMILLO 21 28th June – 5th July 2008
We had travelled to Italy many times before, but this was our first visit to Puglia. We contacted several other holiday accommodations, and the reason why we chose Borgo di Oria was Francesco’s e-mails: not business-like at all, but very friendly and welcoming. And we made the right choice because we received a warm welcome from Francesco when we arrived, the apartment was very beautiful (Camillo 21), we had very friendly neighbours (including a lovely girl of about 10 years of age who was so curious about
us and asked us many questions!) and the town of Oria is such a gem. (Why is such a lovely town not mentioned in “Rough Guide”, I wonder?).
We enjoyed driving along the Adriatic coast from Otranto to S.Maria di Leuca. The landscape was breathtakingly beautiful. We also enjoyed strolling around in Oria, Otranto, Gallipoli and Alberobello. There are many more places we would have liked to visit, but one week is surely not enough.
Admittedly we got lost several times (part of the fun … ?), so next time we will do a little bit of homework in advance such as printing out the maps of some towns we would like to explore.
On the last evening we went to a restaurant “Alla Corte di Hyria”, which is less than a minute’s walk from Camillo 19 and 21. We had walked past it many times, but hesitated to go in simply because there was no menu displayed. We are very glad that we went: the food is delicious and beautifully presented (they change the menu every day), the mediaeval architecture is wonderfully restored and maintained, and the staff of the retaurant were very helpful. We had a wonderful evening there.
Grazie mille to Francesco and Wanda for making our holiday a memorable one. Thank you also to the gentleman of the florist at Piazza Lama who kindly directed us to Piazza Manfredi when we arrived (and got lost) in Oria. We look forward to our next visit to Puglia and to explore this wonderful part of the country again.
